Altering Gene Expression With Thought

Marc Folcher and other researchers from the group led by Martin Fussenegger, Professor of Biotechnology and Bioengineering at the Department of Biosystems (D-BSSE) in Basel, were able to tap into brainwaves and convert genes into proteins (gene expression) using a new gene regulation method.
Folcher et. al. demonstrate how levels of concentration can alter gene expression. What other kinds of thoughts can alter gene expression? Love, anger, worry, compassion? Might they alter gene expression in the direction we might expect, e.g. positive emotions would alter gene expression favorably, so-called ‘negative’ emotions would alter them in an unfavorable direction? This would give us yet another reason to actively curate our thoughts.
Were this the case, it would be a mistake to conclude that anger should be avoided. Avoiding anger only represses it, it doesn’t dissolve it. Anger is best dealt with swiftly and responsibly, so as to resolve and dissipate it.
